The council approved the regular council meeting minutes 5/1/07 and the minutes of the special called meeting in Double Springs 5/10/07.

They also approved the general operation bills from last month.
More city equipment was approved as surplus and added to the list for auction sale. (see revised list)

The council approved a sales tax holiday in August that will be at the same time the state tax holiday. The intention is to save money on back-to-school clothing and supplies purchased in Haleyville. The date will be advertised later.

Shannon Lollar spoke on behalf of the Haleyville Rotary Club's third annual Backyard Barbecue cook-off to be held June 8 and 9. Lollar said one of this year's entry will be a team from Oklahoma, Lotta Bull, winner of the national Kansas City Barbecue contest and several other teams that have placed in regional competition.

The city council's next scheduled meeting will be Tuesday, June 5, 6 p.m. at city hall.
